Escape Rooms sound like they can be a difficult thing to solve and beat in the allocated time. While they are designed to challenge you to think outside the box and think logically, they aren’t impossible to solve!
Here are some of our tips for escape rooms so you can better your chances of solving the escape room:
- Divide and conquer
Sometimes you can get the feeling of being overwhelmed when you do not know where to start in looking for clues to solve the escape room. No matter how big or small the group, solving the room is a lot easier when the group searches for clues separately. This means that everyone can get involved too and people are not left on the sidelines being bored. That way, everything in the room is searched for in a faster time and the clues can be found quicker.
- Be vocal when you find something
In the big rush of trying to find clues and solve the escape room, it can be very loud as people search for clues and are talking through what they are doing. This is why it is important to communicate, but to do it loud enough so everyone in the room can hear. That way, nothing goes amiss when searching for clues and it cuts the time as people aren’t looking for clues that have already been found.
- Don’t bunch around puzzles
In order to solve the escape room in the allocated time, it is important that you try not to bunch up and overcrowd when a puzzle is being solved. While the puzzles may be difficult and require more than one person to solve, overcrowding can put extra stress on the team members, especially if you are in a large group. It is a good idea that if you aren’t working on the puzzle directly, start to look for other clues that may be of help in solving the escape room faster.
- Take a step back and look at the bigger picture
Sometimes you can feel like you are not getting anywhere when solving the escape room. You can’t find any clues, nothing is making sense and what you have found seems to be too complex. That is when it is important that you take a step back from what you are working on and look at the bigger picture. Take note of the larger details around the room, take a deep breath to clear your head and get started on solving the puzzle again. You will find that you will be more productive and be able to notice and solve the clues quicker and easier.
- Don’t be afraid to ask for hints
No matter how stubborn you are and how much you want to solve the escape room without using any hints, sometimes the room can just be too difficult to complete. That’s when asking for hints is actually a reasonable thing to do. It is perfectly normal to get stuck and need help when solving the room. While it may not be the way you wanted to complete the room, it is better to ask a hint to help you move on and escape the room, rather than getting frustrated because you can’t solve it.
